About Chauncey Hood
Education begins at Home I have lived in this paradise we call Idaho since 1965. I graduated from Boise State University in 1973 with a major in Theatre Arts and a minor in English Lit. I continued my education at Stephen F. Austin State University in eastern Texas, but the call of Idaho was too great. After receiving my MA in Theatre Arts I returned to Idaho where I again enrolled at BSU in the MBA program. It was in this program that I found a career that was rewarding and fulfilling. I became an IT professional and worked in that industry fro 22 years. I count as friend many people in leadership of community and industry. Home is where the Heart is I take my recreation seriously. I believe I have the most eclectic interests of anyone on the planet. I am a past president of the “Idaho gold Prospectors Association” and taken training as an Ultra-Light pilot. I have rafted most of the rivers in this part of Idaho and have followed some of the abandoned railroad grades for the logging trains of yesteryear. I am also a member of the “Northwest Cruisers of Idaho” which is devoted to the ownership and promotion of Toyota land Cruisers and the enjoyment of off pavement adventures. I have contributed artistically to various theatrical productions in the valley. Additionally, there was never a garage or yard sale that I couldn’t find something interesting. I believe Idaho is a way of life as well as a state of being and I am dedicated to the preservation of our ideals and values. Home Tradition and Values I am a westerner by birth. The things I value are love of god and Country, family, friendship and loyalty. I am a member of the Choctaw Nation and proud of my Native American heritage. I am a Past Master of Oriental #60 A. f. & A. M>, the largest Masonic Lodge in Idaho and also a Past Master of Silver City #13 A. F & A. M., one of the oldest Masonic Lodges in Idaho. I am retired from the U. S. Naval Reserves where I served as a Cryptologic Technician. One of my best friends is my ex-wife and my step son calls me Dad as does my natural son. I am independent as far as my religious preference, but God is always first in my life and I thank him every day for the opportunity of living in Idaho.
